Abstract

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is rapidly
transforming higher education by introducing computational
systems capable of generating natural language, computer code,
explanations, summaries, assessments, multimedia resources, and
personalized feedback. Large language models have expanded
access to artificial intelligence and created new possibilities for
teaching, learning, assessment, academic writing, research, and
institutional support. At the same time, their adoption raises
significant concerns related to academic integrity, hallucinated
information, algorithmic bias, privacy, intellectual dependency,
transparency, authorship, and the evolving responsibilities of
educators and students. This paper analyzes the implications
of generative artificial intelligence for higher education through
an integrative review and conceptual synthesis of contemporary
research.
