General Editorial Policy

The Journal of Software Engineering & Computing (JSEC) is an open-access scholarly journal committed to rigorous peer review, editorial independence, research integrity, transparency and the responsible dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Authors and prospective authors are expected to comply with all journal policies relating to originality, authorship, competing interests, research ethics, data integrity, citation practices, artificial intelligence use and publication conduct.

Submission of a manuscript to JSEC implies that all authors have read, understood and accepted the journal's editorial and publication policies.

Open Access Policy

JSEC operates under an open-access publishing model. Published articles are made freely available online so that researchers, students, professionals and the wider public can access scientific knowledge without subscription barriers.

The journal supports the broad dissemination, visibility and accessibility of scholarly research and encourages responsible reuse of published content in accordance with the applicable copyright and licensing terms.

Open access does not reduce editorial or scientific standards. All manuscripts are evaluated according to the same requirements for originality, methodological rigor, academic relevance and research integrity.

Originality and Prior Publication

Manuscripts submitted to JSEC must represent original scholarly work and must not substantially duplicate or overlap with previously published work by the same authors or with manuscripts that are currently under consideration by another journal.

Authors must disclose any closely related manuscripts, conference papers, technical reports or other publications that could reasonably be considered related to the submitted work.

Conference abstracts or preliminary presentations do not normally prevent submission, provided that the journal manuscript represents a substantial and properly disclosed development of the work.

Simultaneous Submissions

A manuscript submitted to JSEC must not simultaneously be under formal review for publication in another journal.

If authors submit closely related work to another publication while a manuscript is under consideration by JSEC, they must promptly inform the editorial office and provide sufficient information for the editors to assess any potential overlap.

Preprints

JSEC supports the responsible posting of manuscripts on recognized preprint servers before or during journal submission.

Authors should disclose the existence of a preprint at submission and, when applicable, provide its persistent identifier or public link. Posting a legitimate preprint does not by itself constitute prior publication.

Publication Conduct

JSEC takes publication ethics and research integrity seriously. The journal may investigate concerns involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, manipulated data, fabricated results, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest or other forms of publication misconduct.

The journal reserves the right to reject, suspend or withdraw a manuscript, including after provisional acceptance, if substantial concerns arise regarding the reliability, originality or ethical integrity of the work.

Authorship and Contributions

All listed authors must have made a meaningful scholarly contribution to the work and must accept responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately. Guest, honorary or purchased authorship is not permitted.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools may be used to assist selected aspects of writing, language improvement, coding, data analysis, visualization or editorial workflows, provided that their use does not replace scholarly judgment or author responsibility.

Artificial intelligence systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity or originality of scholarly work.

Substantive use of generative artificial intelligence should be disclosed whenever it materially contributes to the preparation or analysis of the manuscript.
